#CuttingPaani — Cutting Paani Challange
We, the Humans, are the greatest creatures on the earth, at least that is what we think. We are the superior creators contributing so many technology advancement to this universe. Really?
If nature have not given the space to have the advancement, we could not have done anything. You can build a Titanic, but cannot reach the destination if Mother nature do not want to.
But still, we people are known to have misplaced priorities.
In today’s world, it is no more about the Chai pe Charchaa. And for sure, it can wait. But the real need of the hour is Paani pe Charchaa.
We parents struggle a lot to get our kids admitted to a good school, and work hard to get them excel in academics. The schools with a vast open land and beautiful buildings. Good, then?
We provide all resources and efforts to our kids to get them the right skill set so as to be placed in a job. A job that we believe is the answer to all questions in this world. In a company developed on the land destroying the natural resource and trees.
We find the best bride/bridegroom and get them married. We provide all support to make sure that they lead a happy & peaceful life. Life begins in a 3 bedroom apartment constructed on the land replacing the ponds & lakes. Wow!
If we are only going to concentrate on such materialistic life, we should ask ourselves – who is going to take care of the Nature? Remember, if no Nature, no Trees. No Trees, no Rains. No Rains, no Water.
So, what is it that our next generation going to do with all their vast academic knowledge and mass wealth when there is no water to drink in near future?
Ever thought about this? No, I am not exaggerating things. Its just a matter of time before we hit this.
Heard about the Day Zero?
Yes, we already started hearing about the DAY ZERO that is going to hit this world. Days are NOT far!
We may be lucky to complete our life without seeing such unfortunate incidents, but what about our next generations? Just because something was free, we did not value its real worth. Just like the air, water was also considered to be abundant and we all utilized – or rather over utilized – and so we are the reason for this cause today.
Keep in mind – Water is not worthless, water is Priceless.
Have we ever thought that we need to pay for water few decades back?
And now we are here, paying for even a 1/2 litre of drinking water. Who is to blame for all this? Is it not our Human tribe to be blamed for this?
All those precious water saved and passed on to us by the dinosaurs and the sapiens and olden tribes and our ancestors in the form of in-numerous rivers, and other water resources gone extinct now. It’s we who failed to preserve it.
Just try to remember the names of all the rivers we learned in the schools, and try to locate it now. Most of them are gone, changed to either just sand or concrete buildings.
Nature OR Science?
It does not help to use science to reach Mars and search for water. We had it right here. In abundance. But we failed to preserve it. Why don’t we invest our science more in to preserving the water bodies?
We need to build lots of dams to prevent the rain water from going to sea and get wasted.
Every government is fighting to build dams to achieve this. But mostly the idea is killed even before it buds out due to various political reason – fight between the boundaries, ideology, etc. Not to forget the issues raised by the so called NGOs fighting in the name of environment. And then the activists along with the opposition political parties trying to fish in troubled water saying as if the life of innocent people is going to be lost due to the fact that they may lose their land for construction of dams.
Even a simple solution like having the Rain water harvesting incorporated in all our houses are debated. Really? Is it not for our own better future?
If everything is viewed from political prism, then one day we will have nothing to live on. Nature loves only those who loves them back. Its never a one way street.
What can we do?
Even though there are plenty to be done from the government side, we cannot just look other way blaming just those political parties. Because, in the end its US and OUR generation who will take the hit.
I am sure together we can change this with little initiative. How?
I am sure you all know what to do.
You would agree that it costs nothing to you. All you need to do is to make optimal usage of water.
Its as simple as pouring less than the water you need in your glass, you can always pour again if needed.
Close the tap correctly to avoid dripping of water, remember each drop counts.
Use buckets than to showers, there is no need to spend hours under showers!!!
Plan your washing cycles, avoid using machines for few clothes and accumulate it optimally.
It’s all about priorities. Just change the thought process about water. We seldom think that water is precious. Hence we fail to appreciate its real worth.
But from now on, we need to take care of water as a precious commodity and preserve them for our kids.
When we preserve and save wealth, why not nature and water? What is it our next generation would do with the wealth without water?
Health is wealth. And remember – without water, there is no health. Which means, no water leads to no health which results in no use of your wealth. Got it in your mind?
Now, act. Not just for this campaign, but make it a habit to save water.
And friends, this is a noble initiative from Livpure in collaboration with IndiBlogger to which I have tried to provide my portion of participation. Here is a nice way of conveying the message through a video!
Hope this triggers some more discussions and actions from common people like us.
And to make your bit of contribution, please do sign the petition.
Remember, signing is only part of the contribution.
The real need is to ACT. And NOW.
Because water is LIFE.
